Okay noone ask me what a warrior is please . Mostly non crit immune melees, such as a drow build. Wanted to have a post about these types of builds playing endgame.
These are the strategies I've developed with most of these builds.
Rule Number 1: Get hit the least amount of times in areas where getting hit will hurt you.
As a warrior or melee focus, your greatest asset is your damage. This will help you mostly in a 1 vs 1 fight, because then its your damage vs the enemies damage - and mostly you can win sometimes.
A simple picture with o's and dashes might help. Imagine you are the dash and the enemies are the o's.
ooo
o-o
ooo
is the worst situation you can be in as a warrior in many endgame areas, because when the enemies surround you then 7 of those 8 enemies will be able to potshot you without you being able to do anything in return. This is because you are a single enemy striker - you can only hit one at a time. It's even worse when some of those enemies are casters with mind stun arrows or arrows of death vs your fort save, and you can't do anything vs them.
o- is a much better situation.
And oh yeah - A DRAGON KNIGHT summon can help with its fear and melee attacks, also tanking sometimes.
Use your drone!
Use your drone!
This means 3 things.
1. Find areas you can play endgame in where things hurt you but you can still manage to play. Harder areas with good cr you can manage to play.
2. Find areas where things don't hurt you and you can still manage to play. Easier areas you can manage to make money with.
3. Team up and try to be smart - let allies tank or lure things as a group etc. Good luck with your groups.
Areas for #1 Endgame:
Grub pits
Guard room and Mano gate
Sendauntra entrance?
Golems and smaller lost dungeon areas possibly
Starting areas of darkmoor.
Grub Pits : You have to wait in the entrance to lost dungeon for the area transfers to let you where you want to go. Once there, as a melee focus you don't have the area spells that casters do, so you have to do it differently.
With true seeing and ranging or sight luring from a corner, you can effectively one on one the grubs and clerics in grub pits. This allows you to fight the numerous Very Difficult rejuvenators or larvaes, as well as Overpowering CR noisies, master larvaes, and the clerics. Beware, the master larvaes have good attack.
With that CR you can find t11 items. I recently found a +12 attack Heavy Xbow with a partner in grub pits. The casters also can farm here too, so it works out.
And oh yeah, some clerics or larvaes do a massive amount of negative energy damage instead of physical damage. There is apparently no reason why. Use negative energy protection or shadow shield.
Guard room and Mano Gate : the entire idea here is to get the CR, and the mano elite guards and elite archers have the CR. Guard room is the classic, with terrain where you can lure almost every 1 on 1, and then lure some elites or the archer in the next forgies area behind it.
The mano gate also has an elite guard, but underneath is another elite guard with an elite archer. Go in the door across the map from kobold docks going to golems, and you run into an OP elite archer, which can also give good items. I once got an empyric double axe from it.
Sendauntra Entrance?:
The Question mark is because I haven't really done it myself, but I've been around old sendauntra before on my paladin solo and it did fine in areas where the sendauntra were few in number.
Because of the changes Chree did, the entrance is now one of those areas, and it has Overpowering and Very Difficult CR as well. I would be wary though, as the casters in sendauntra have some of the highest dcs on the server, and I would also have true seeing and be ready to drone, run, or use darkness bombs with vision. If one is careful in the sendauntra entrance, I think it's likely a warrior build can farm here.
Golems and smaller lost dungeon areas:
These areas, you have to be very careful and one on one. The Golems in golems quest have some of the highest attack bonuses on the server, and this goes for many of the creatures in lost dungeon. But with luring and careful play, one can possibly kill monsters here and get some drops eventually. The rooms you want to be in for lost dungeon are the smaller ones - halls or ruins. Not many of the other maps are good for warrior builds, as it will probably be more than 1 v 1 and you won't be able to lure.
Golems is a classic map where you can lure, but as always be careful here, as they have the capability to greatly harm you. A nice sanctuary at the ready might be handy for a quick escape.
Starting Areas of Darkmoor:
So...Warriors can farm some of the higher areas in darkmoor, it's just extremely arduous to do so with darkness bombs and struggling with buffing and resting and true seeing and dispels.
However, the CR is moderate to possibly challenging or very difficult in some of the first few maps in darkmoor, and eventually you can not only get drops but also horn tips or avian feathers, which you can use for a random or item gem reward.
I think it would be somewhat careful play, because there are many archers, but I put it here because I'm sure it's possible and you can eventually get a random or item gem reward from the tokens that drop.
Since your drones don't work Animal Empathy is probably advised.
You need true seeing scrolls or items or spells.
