I was running past Wheaton and it was really dark as the time was night so looked really spooky and was hard to see far.
Day/night cycle: Wouldn't it be cool if at night stuff happened like a bunch of undead/wearwolves/etc thats not normally there sprang from the ground and then during the day time they disappeared. So kind of like the horror but controlled by the day/night cycle.
Level dependant ambushes: Could also be ambush so the higher level chars moving between maps get different ambush map based on the char level not the usual ambush map. eg Level 40 running between maps in wheaton to fer get some nasty level 40 surprises. But a level 6 would not get those ambushes. Could tie it into a timed delivery quest you have to do between towns like Wheaton, fer, pb, mdt. Make use of maps that are not epic for epic chars.
Ideas: Could also tie it into the calendar which you can hover over and see the date. So it would spawn monsters at a certain time say full moon. Maybe influence the CR at that time or something like that for small bonus. Could it be somehow a task to kill so many of x type and then y type and then z type and it makes some difference or reason to do it. All using the calendar to guide where you have go as you discover the pattern of where these special monsters spawn.

There are already day/night cycle dependant spawns, e.g. the orcs on the Fer outskirts East road spawn near the destroyed wagon only at night.

ah i think i have seen those orcs.
What about if some kind of token dropped that you have to hand in at some far away place that the token says it belongs. But in trying do that there are so many nasty ambushes along the way that only happens when you are carrying the token in your inv. Maybe carry more tokens = much harder to complete the hand in. Makes use of the town side maps or the whole server.
Just ideas anyhow but i think that could be quite fun. Maybe different ambush types between different trans so you can use the many ways to get there or bypass something too nasty.
