Mu's web page with his postmortem of Three Towns no longer exists as far as I can tell. We all talk about Mu but Kynn also played a big part in 3T's creation. What I do remember about the article was these few things: What made Three Towns great: The players What made Three Towns suck: The players - to elaborate, listening to the players (whine) and trying to please everyone sucked the will to continue the server. The server would have died had not DM Dave taken it on. Mu wrote some great articles on game design and RPG design. I remember him saying something like he wasn't a fan of 'finger wagglers' so Three Towns was designed more around melee - hence the scrap system I guess. It was designed as a PvP server - Kynn in particular liked PvP. The idea was a war zone - the contested areas. Players would pick a faction of sorts and the idea was to fight for resources. In essence, the original Three Towns was nothing like what we have/had today. PvP? We're all a bunch of miserable farmers   |

But do you think 3t would still be here today if it was solely a pvp server?
I wonder. I never really played pvp on 3t it was the quests and partying that kept me going. Even though I do love other pvp games, but not in RPG games.

Thank you. I wanted to find some inspiration  And yes I think Taroc summarized it well ahah. It's hard to find balance between the server is hard and interesting enough to want to stay and it's too easy too fast and then we become lazy and only want to play when bonuses are at the highest etc... |

We can create a new feat, "whining" and "greater whining" it would give you more xp per kill or something ahha. But you would have to invest in the new whining skill to make it more efficient
